Winnipeg, the Strategic Logistics Hub in the Heart of Canada
On June 19, 2025, the first international webinar organized by LIDOIL in collaboration with CENTRECAN Supply Chain Solutions Inc. was successfully held. The event was moderated by Fernando Velásquez and featured an outstanding presentation by Víctor Leitao, Director of CENTRECAN and a specialist in international logistics and supply chain management with more than 15 years of experience in logistics operations across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
During the session, participants learned firsthand about the strategic advantages of Winnipeg, Manitoba, as a gateway to the Canadian market. Key highlights included its central location, competitive operating costs, and strong connectivity with major hubs such as Minneapolis and Chicago, as well as its proximity to the Port of Churchill—an essential route toward Europe and Asia.
Víctor Leitao, a certified expert in Supply Chain Management (SCMP) and International Trade (CITP), provided a clear overview of Manitoba’s economic potential and the opportunities available to Ecuadorian companies, especially with the upcoming free trade agreement between Ecuador and Canada.
Fernando Velásquez emphasized the importance of creating spaces like this one:
“This has been an excellent event, filled with valuable information and concrete opportunities. I am convinced this will not be the first nor the last of its kind. Without a doubt, it will open many doors, as there is growing interest in learning more about the province of Manitoba and how to access the Canadian market through this strategic logistics hub.”
The event was sponsored by the World Trade Center Winnipeg, the Ecuador–Canada Chamber of Commerce, and the Logistics Association of Ecuador, demonstrating strong institutional support for this initiative aimed at helping Ecuadorian companies access new trade routes and logistics innovation.
